FAQFrequently Asked Questions
Where are you located?
I’m in Lynnwood, Washington, U.S.A., 10 minutes north of Seattle.
How did you learn to do all this stuff?
Online! I have a Bachelors degree in “googling things” and a PhD. in “Learning from failures”.
Can you teach me?
Sure! I teach classes at the Lynnwood TAP plastics on their cosplay materials and how to use them. I’m also at a handful of conventions. If you’re looking for on-on-one training in my shop, unfortunately I don’t provide that. I will do my best to keep my website updated with as much information as I can provide and I LOVE talking shop! if you have questions on technique, or a project, I’ll do my best to answer them in a timely fashion.
Will you come to our convention? Be a guest? Teach a class or panel?
Providing it works with my schedule I would love to! I run costume contests, teach classes and do live demos at my booths when I’m out and about.
Send me an email on this page or Facebook message me and we can talk!
Can I be an understudy or a shop hand?
In the foreseeable future, unfortunately, no. I certainly do have times when my workload gets a bit overwhelming and I bat my eyelashes and whisper sweet nothings to my wife or close friends to give me a hand, but I highly suggest either coming to one of my classes (if you’re local), checking out my website, or googling whatever it is you want to learn. If there’s something specific you’re stuck on, feel free to send me an email on this page or Facebook message me!
Can you make me "X" and how much will it cost?
Maybe! There are a lot of factors that go into a final quote so I’m not able to fire off a number without some information about your project. Factors include my current workload, your desired materials, due dates, and payment schedules. I wish i was able to shoot a number out there, but it will have to be a conversation with some back and forth as I gather info. Start by filling out my Commission Request Form and we can get the conversation rolling!
Can you make me a full armored costume?
Usually, no. The amount of work and sizing issues I run into with full suits of armor are usually more trouble then their worth for both of us. It’s VERY tough to create a fitted full costume (even with a correct sized mannequin) that moves well. its always best to have a few fittings on the wearer to make sure everything is groovy. That said, I am pretty hesitant to take full costumes on. I also do not sell sewing as I am not yet skilled enough in it.
Will you work on my film? T.V. show? Kickstarter?
Yes, Id love to help you achieve the finished goal you’re looking to accomplish!
I’d rather not, however, work on set. So I would be happy doing some satellite work from my shop where assets are either shipped, dropped off or picked up.
Can you ship internationally?
This one’s easy, YES!
How will you ship my Items?
Majority of the time I use USPS priority mail and have it insured.
Can I pick up my Items at your shop and hang if I am local?
Possibly! But I’d prefer to meet somewhere.
What if it arrives damaged?
First of all (knock on wood) this is exactly why i only ship out insured packages. We file with the carrier to get the insured value back and then we can either use that money to compensate me to create you a new piece, or you take it and the asset to do as you please.
How much do I have to pay to get started?
A 50% non refundable deposit is required before I put something on my shecdule, with the remaining balance plus what shipping came out to due within 2 weeks of completion.
What payment method do you prefer?
If I don't like my Items, can I return them?
All sales are final. A lot of work goes into custom jobs and I keep you in the loop every step of the way. If there is something you’re not satisfied with it will be seen and addressed LONG before the asset reaches you. For store items, I HIGHLY recommend you ask as many questions as you like before ordering.
